About the Humanists of Florida Association

A dynamic vehicle is needed to help drive change and the organization to lead this is the Humanists of Florida Association. HFA has made some great accomplishments around the state such as opening the first Humanist charter school in the nation, the Carl Sagan Academy, in Tampa; becoming an organization media outlets turn to when discussing public policy; and by being on the forefront of redeveloping the State of Florida’s science standards.

HFA is a 501(c)3 educational association comprised of individuals and groups who share common values. It is one of the largest state associations for Humanism in the United States representing over 2500 humanists and 30 groups, including Jewish, Buddhist and secular humanist entities.

Operated as a democratic, membership organization, HFA has an elected volunteer board of directors that sets policies and oversees the work of our dedicated volunteer. Projects, programs and initiatives are put into action by volunteers who work with the board to ensure that goals are accomplished.

Members of the organization receive bi-weekly email alert that keeps them up to date on activities, issues and opportunities to become more involved. HFA publishes a quarterly newsletter and annual journal designed to connect Humanists with issues facing Floridians.
