Is there really a war on

 Christmas?

Fox commentator Bill O’Reilly has joined Jerry Falwell in announcing that secularist Humanists have declared “War on Christmas.”  They join the John Birch Society, and others in this year’s official Christmas conflict, by claiming that Christmas is under attack by anyone who even acknowledges that there are other holidays that share the month of December with Christmas.

Visit any pro-Christmas website and you will find that the “grinch” that gets blamed for “stealing Christmas” every year are the Secular Humanists.    But, just who are these secular humanists and have they really declared war on Christmas?  And even if someone has declared war on Christmas, why should the rest of us care?

    Questions for the Guest

  • Have Secular Humanists declared war on Christmas?

  • What holiday do Secular Humanists celebrate?

  • What is the history of the annual Christmas Conflict?

  • What other Christmas conflicts have fundamentalist preachers gotten upset about in the past?

  • Is Secular Humanist redundant?

  • How is this “conflict” related to other Fundamentalist concerns?

  • Is anyone really being prevented from celebrating Christmas?

  • What is Humanism and why do Reconstructionist Christians consider Humanists to be their enemy in a “cultural war?”
