Evolution vs. Intelligent
Design
The debate
between faith and science in the schools
The Kansas
State Board of Education is currently debating whether Darwin's
theory of evolution should be taught alongside Creation science in
the schools. This is a debate that is occurring across the country
at the state and local school board levels.
The debate
over Evolution is as old as the theory itself. But in the United
States, this debate has become part of a larger “cultural” conflict
within our society. Creationists are promoting a new theory called
Intelligent Design to serve as a “scientific” alternate to the
theory of Evolution. However there are questions as to whether
Intelligent Design even qualifies as a scientific theory. With
battle lines being drawn, and the future of America’s economy at
stake, it is even more important then ever to understand the
differences between these two competing theories.
